4andOhhhh

4 and Ohhhhhh
OK. I was wrong. really wrong. About Josh McDaniels. About the defense. About Pat Bowlen. About Kyle Orton. About most everything orange. The Broncos are for real. Isn’t it amazing to see a quarterback sack. isn’t it incredible to see Josh and Brandon kiss and make up. The whole thing is really quite strange don’t you think? I mean nothing makes any sense, but yet, there they are. 4 and 0hhhhh. Leading the AFC West. These are strange days indeed.

Sometimes Deadlines bring strange results. As I pushed forward last night to meet my deadline for the 9News 10 p.m. broadcast the cartoon above took several incarnations. one of which I’ve included here. How Brandon Marshall took on the likeness of John Travolta, I have no earthly idea. Needless to say it ended up on the cutting room floor, but I thought you might like to see what happens when the pen goes a bit cuckoo. Not to mention the cartoonist who was using it.

Caption Contest Update
I’ll be choosing the winner of this weeks contest sometime today and I’ll get the winner up online as soon as I can. My freelance schedule is playing complete havoc with being able to judge the contest, get the winner up, draw a new one and get the winners prizes in the mail. My apologies for not getting to it sooner.

Rockiesincredible

The Rockies season has been amazing. A team totally transformed since moving Jim Tracy into the managers role, they act like a team on a mission. And sometimes that’s all it takes.

Rocktober Baybee!!!

Here’s to a ride to remember, both old and new. I think it’s safe to get on the bandwagon now. Wow. What a story. What a fantastic season. And it’s only just begun.

Caption Contest deadline is extended through the weekend. So keep the entries coming!!

Glory-Bound
An oldie from the Rocky Mountain News days that’s a perfect fit for today.

Today’s View From the Bull Pen

The odds aren't good. Simply put waiting for an NBA player to make a free throw is a bit like waiting for the Cubs to win the World Series. It just ain't gonna happen. At least in our lifetimes. It reminds me of one of my favorite stories. Legendary basketball coach Don Haskins, all 250 plus pounds of him, had a player who apparently thought a bit highly of himself and didn't find his deficiency at the free throw line to be that big of a deal. Haskins challenged him to a free throw contest and let the kid go first. The kid hit a couple out of 10 or so and proudly handed old man Haskins the ball. After the coach hit his 100th in a row without a miss the kid learned his lesson. Don't argue with the Bear. And learn to shoot free throws.

There isn't a way to leave comments in the Bull Pen (that I've found yet) so please feel free to leave your comments under the latest cartoon that I post.
