World Cup may not be a good idea for an office pool, though I’m sure some have tried. That’s the trouble with these summer sports. They aren’t conducive to office pools. And we know how important those are.
I’m admittedly looking forward to football already. I mean the preview issues are out in full force. Have been since January. The college World Series is over already. I know that because I heard the last clink of the bat last night on the news. Aluminum bats. They’re just so wrong. It’s like having fur on a football. I do wish I could have joined my good friend, Gene, in Omaha for the Series though. That would have been fun. Maybe someday I’ll do that as long as I don’t have to wear Red. But then again, if I don’t wear Red they know you’re not from Nebraska and well, it all seems so stressful. I think I’ll head out to find some football previews now. If I can find one without Nebraska on the cover.
(PS. Gene, you know I’m kidding!)

It’s nice to know we are in good company when it comes to incompetent referees and umpires. The solution is simple, of course. Yet instant replay continues to meet opposition in baseball and World Cup soccer, where the officiating has been absolutely atrocious. I’m always amazed at how often things that can be easily solved just aren’t, mostly out of greed of some kind. So instead we are left with the outcomes of important games meaning absolutely nothing. Kind of takes the fun out of it, doesn’t it?
I have a new World cup cartoon on ESPN.com
Lately my schedule here has taken me into a few cartoon postings on the weekend. As we move through the upcoming holiday and the “slower” season of sports I might take a day here and there to recharge. I’ll try to let you know when I do that. I’m looking forward to an exciting upcoming football season and some more exciting things ahead here on DrewLitton.com
As always your feedback is so vital and so valuable to me. I love hearing from you!
Be back tomorrow with more!
