I couldn’t resist this fun poke at Brett Favre. It had to be done. As training camp opens I’ll be drawing you some updates from around the league. That’s always a lot of fun. From the mess in Cincinnati to the daily Tebow watch. Oh it’s good to be back at the drawing board.

I can’t imagine any head coach in his right mind would want to deal with a combination of Ocho Cinco AND T.O.. But I’m glad some sucker is crazy enough to try. Talk about a cartoonists gold mine. It’s like Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew rides again! Yowza!

Plop goes the Rockies. Just like that they find themselves down and out. What a difference a road trip makes. What exactly happens during the all-Star break I’ve no idea but needless to say this team just isn’t the same one before the break. Can they climb their way back? You tell me!

I’m back from Comic-Con and though I’m pretty tired from the experience I had a great time. I learned a lot, walked a lot and saw a lot. Some of what I saw I could have done without ( the people made up to look like Zombies walking the streets, for instance). But it was great. How is it I leave for only a few days and the Rockies completely fall apart. What a shame. Oh well, the Broncos start camp pretty soon. I’ll have plenty to draw about very soon.

I’ll be back with a cartoon on Tuesday! Comic-Con was terrific. A lot of great inspiration.

Today’s View From the Bull Pen

The odds aren't good. Simply put waiting for an NBA player to make a free throw is a bit like waiting for the Cubs to win the World Series. It just ain't gonna happen. At least in our lifetimes. It reminds me of one of my favorite stories. Legendary basketball coach Don Haskins, all 250 plus pounds of him, had a player who apparently thought a bit highly of himself and didn't find his deficiency at the free throw line to be that big of a deal. Haskins challenged him to a free throw contest and let the kid go first. The kid hit a couple out of 10 or so and proudly handed old man Haskins the ball. After the coach hit his 100th in a row without a miss the kid learned his lesson. Don't argue with the Bear. And learn to shoot free throws.

There isn't a way to leave comments in the Bull Pen (that I've found yet) so please feel free to leave your comments under the latest cartoon that I post.
