Absolutely loved this article by ESPN columnist Johnette Howard. See it herehttp://sports.espn.go.com/espn/commentary/news/story?id=5736976
I was given the great pleasure of illustrating it and I love the column and cartoon so much I thought it was perfect for a Friday get-away toon. Hope you have the greatest Halloween weekend of all-time. Stay safe. And be sure to come back Monday for a most hilarious ESPN animation on the Texans-Colts match-up. This is our best one yet!

And so the story goes...Barry Bonds always wanted a World Series. And I always wanted to draw a cartoon about it. So in this season of newbies in the Series, the Rangers vs. the Giants, I think it's appropriate for this slightly irreverent cartoon.

What do you think about the Series. Part of me is pulling for the Rangers and part of me is rooting for the Giants because of my old pal Phil Frank, who drew hundreds of cartoons featuring his bears characters rooting for the Giants in his comic strip Farley that he did for the San Francisco Chronicle. So I think I'll go that direction. C'mon Giants! Win one for Alphonse and Farley!

Being number One has become dangerous these days. Sitting atop the BCS poll just ain't what it used to be. Every team that has risen to number One in the poll during the last three weeks has lost after gaining the distinction. It's not as bad as the Sports Illustrated cover jinx but it's close.
Of course for our teams here in Colorado, it's a problem we don't have to worry about.

Given yesterdays outcry in the land of Broncomania I thought it'd be fun to open the polls and give you a chance to cast your ballot on an issue far more important than any in next Tuesdays election. Not really, but It's good for a laugh anyway. And by all means share the cartoon. Broncos fans could use a little pick me up these days.

TODAY"S ESPN MONDAY NIGHT MADNESS ANIMATION IS BELOW SO PLEASE SCROLL DOWN!

Sometimes there just aren't enough words to describe "ugly". And maybe ugly isn't even the right word. I'm sure all of you have a few of your own words to describe what the Broncos looked like yesterday. It was the worst performance by a Broncos team I've ever seen since moving to Denver in 1982. And yes, that includes the 55-10 Super Bowl blowout. In that game the Broncos at least made an effort for the first few minutes. Sunday there was no effort. This looked like a team who had just been told before kickoff that their one week mini vacation to London won't start until Thursday. And oh, by the way did we tell you the 49ers already left for London this afternoon. That's what it looked like. And, hey, those kinds of things do happen. Just like they do in your office when someone tells you the company isn't buying the coffee anymore, or that Christmas bonus you were counting on, well, stop counting on it.

I've never actually witnessed a real live mutiny but what we all saw yesterday in Denver was every bit that and more. It spells (we hope) the end of a very, very bad experiment of bringing in a young arrogant coach who could care less about the history of the franchise he coaches. Know this Broncos fans, Josh McDaniels has never been about you. Or about the storied past of the Broncos. Josh has always been about Josh, his way or the highway, his way or no way. He doesn't care about a team that once went door to door to drum up enough support to stay in Denver. He doesn't care about Floyd Little or John Elway or stories of Lombardi Trophies past. And he clearly doesn't care about this so called Raiders rivalry. No. The only thing he was embarrassed about yesterday was the fact that HE got blown out in the Madden football game he thinks he's playing on his XBox 360. We can only hope that Pat Bowlen has had enough, because, and I think I speak for a lot of Broncos fans today, I know we all sure have. Yeah. We've all had more than enough.

If you liked this cartoon, and miss the days when you could see more of this kind of thing in your daily paper, call the Denver Post and 9News. Let them know that you'd like to see my cartoons back again. It certainly can't hurt. I'm not able to draw the local cartoons as often as I used to because I have to pay the bills. When I do a local one like this, I do it for you. I don't get compensated for it. So please feel free to take up my cause and help to return my cartoons to Colorado. And while you're at it, please take some time to let the great folks at ESPN.com, the Chicago Tribune, Mile High Sports Magazine (where I do local cartoons once a month), Metro North News and the Communicator of Santa Rosa, NM how much you do love the cartoons. Every little bit helps.
