Bad Brackets

The Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat

Kind of sums up my feeling on office pools. They can either be great fun or absolute agony. Mine were always the latter. So I stayed out of them this year. I do have to say though, it’s not quite the same watching the tournament without them.

Sometimes you get a taste of Heaven

Last night I had the honor and pleasure of being able to tour one of Denver’s greatest treasure troves. Paul Parker, of the Rockies, Baseball artist Kyle Bannister and myself had the distinct privilege to tour the personal Baseball memorabilia collection of Mr. Baseball himself, Denver attorney, Marshall Fogel. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life, taking in vintage one-of-a-kind photographs, uniforms, bats, autographs, baseball cards, gloves and every other possible baseball collectible from Babe Ruth to Jackie Robinson to Mickey Mantle to Joe DiMaggio. It really was a field of Dreams. We were meeting to begin planning for a fund raising event in November for SABR, the Society of American Baseball Research. It’s an organization committed to preserving baseball’s history. One of the auction items will be a chance to tour the Marshall Fogel collection led by Mr. Fogel, himself. Stay tooned for more on that and how you can help.

Drew this is an absolute classic.

I haven’t seen anything this funny in a long time.

Should write excellent post! Can’t wait to seeing the next post!

  3. My husband who could care less about basketball, especially college ball, filled out a bracket for his office pool this year. I snidely asked him if he’d picked his teams based on their pretty uniforms. He said he “did a little research”–translated he picked by seed. What gets me is that he won’t even watch the tournament at all or let me. What’s the fun in that? If he wins any money, I’m going to make him share!

  4. Normally, I would fall in the latter of the two… However, I’m like one of five people in the world who had Michigan State beating Louisville to get to the Final Four… So for me, it’s pure elation!
