There’s always next year…

That’s what Kansas said. I have nothing against Kansas. I know a few Jayhawks. They are generally nice, tax paying citizens. But it seems like every year (yeah I know, they won in 2008) they end up always short. I though it was just a Roy Williams thing (yeah I know, he FINALLY won in 2005). But apparently not. So rant away on Kansas or the tournament or anything else. I have a fun cartoon posting over on ESPN.com later today and I’m going to give you a sneak peek at some new stuff going in my Zazzle Store sometime later today or in the morning.

Good Morning from Omaha,
wow, what a tournament. Butler was there last year, kentucky back in the final 4 after missing the last 14 years, who is vcu, we all now know and U Conn the lone survivor from the big east. In the family bracket battle we have all been eliminated and I guess I won by default. I had accumulated more points than all the other participants and get the traveling trophy moved north from TX this year.
Not many teams have kansas’s reputation for getting to the tournament. and even fewer have the record of stumbling on the way to the top. the good news is that baseball starts soon and there are 2 teams that have shocked the basketball empires of so many otherwise good/great teams. the coaches are seemingly very young guys. They could be the next coach K’s, roy williams, or even John woodens. there are a lot of good basketball players out there and now the good coaches are starting to come out of the woodwork. gotta love it!
Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

Dear Drew,
Without a doubt this year has been one of the wierdest, goofiest, “Twilight Zone” style tournament I’ve ever seen. Now in the semi’s you have this year’s ultimate Cinderella VCU, last years Cinderella Butler (who won’t give up their glass slippers yet), and the two “Power Schools”.
I have a friend who is already calling the Butler vs VCU game the “3rd place game”. That it’ll be irrelevant who wins because the winner will get destroyed by the winner of the Kentucky vs Conneticut game. I don’t see it that way personally.
On a side note I want to thank the guy’s who offered their help on getting opening game tickets for the Colorado Rockies. However I luckily found out before getting them that one of my fathers friends has already invited him. Still because of the help I recieved I have new options for the future.
All the best (and GO BUTLER! GO VCU!)

Kansas played like they thought they had it won by just being on the court. Will there be a next year for Bill Self?
Love seeing these upsets! UConn could pull a double fot the Mens’ and Womens’ title, though…
Speaking of rough brackets, the President had all 1-seeds in the Final Four, so he lost his little (Oval) office pool. For a Democrat, he sure did make some conservative picks.
In other news, Chad Ochocinco wraps up his trial with Sporting Kansas City today in a reserve game (“reserve” is soccerese for “junior varsity”) against a semi-pro team. He’s taking it very seriously, but not playing in 15 years has taken its toll. I hope this puts to rest the whole “If our athletes played soccer, we’d win the World Cup!” argument. It’s a skill sport.
Go VCU! Or Butler! I am ready to fill out my bracket now.
Is Ocho trying the old two sport, give me big bucks to play where I want or I will go play (insert sport here) trick?
Love the cartoon over on ESPN, Drew. The devil is in the details and you always have such clever details.
Kansas’ losing makes me wonder what the Buffs could have done at the dance. Oh well, the Buffs have the NITs, and while not the NCAAs, it is still a good tournament.
Start spreading the news…. 😉

Sherri: He’s probably getting cut from the team tomorrow…even still, he already said he’d play for the MLS league minimum ($40K). Bo Jackson/Deion Sanders/Jim Thorpe days are done, I think…
Badger, you forgot John Elway on your list. Oh, you were going for people who actually played two (at least) sports. John could have, but he only needed to threaten.
Drew: Late on the draw here, but this is the definitive Kansas post-mortem link:
