Who Let the Dogs Out

Now it’s down to two. I’ll be rooting for Butler in the final game of a very strange NCAA tournament. The weekends games were great and I’m really hoping the final will be as good. This cartoon is featured on ESPN.com for Monday morning. A few thoughts about the weekend of sports and this coming week…

* Carmelo Anthony got what he wanted after all. His appearance on Saturday Night Live spoke volumes about him and his sense of priorities. He wants the limelight in the big city. He’ll find out soon enough that if you don’t win in New York, the limelight eventually burns you. Bad.

* Madden football is going to include concussions in it’s 2012 edition of the successful video game. Really? I actually think an option to play the owners vs. the players with both sides dressed like clowns would be much more fun.

* The Avalanche season will be over soon. Thank the good Lord in the Great Heaven above.

*VCU actually rioted Saturday night after losing their semi-final game against Butler. Thank goodness they didn’t win. Imagine THAT mess.

* The Nuggets are the scariest team in the NBA right now. No one wants to face them in the playoffs with the way they are playing right now. Who would have thought?

  1. Dear Drew,

I’ll be cheering for Butler on monday too. In my mind I can imagine two other teams that will be cheering for them. UTEP and Boise State who never got the recognition they deserved. Especailly UTEP who should have gotten a National Title game shot.

    All the best

    Louis

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

Its gotta be butler. I read a “poster”column about the nuggets…sounds like “team”play is foreign to the NBA and that is the way the Nuggets are playing. That difference is what makes them dangerous in the playoffs. To be safe, and pick and winner, I’ll holler GO DOGS. the could be the huskies or the butler variety. I now am sitting atop the fence.

You have a great day and remember…

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  3. Hi Drew –

Love the toon and your comments below

Carmelo will for sure dim his own limelight

Love your take on the Madden game – I would even have my kids teach me to play that one!

Avalanche – what can you say?

    VCU – bad losers

Nuggets – Are so fun to watch now – it even gives me chills

There is one team you have left out – Our MLS Cup Champions – The Rapids have gone 3-0 in the first 3 games of the season with solid wins in all games. They beat DC United 4-1 in yesterdays game. You should try to take in a game this season, Drew. We have a wonderful field at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park – not a bad seat in the place, ticket prices are family friendly and no charge for parking plus the fans are awsome. It is great to see so many youth soccer players at all of the games.

Thanks and Have a great day.

    Cindy

  4. Cindy: If you’re going to invite Drew to a Rapids’ game, point him to the Terraces behind the North Goal! It’s like standing (not sitting!) in a section where everyone is Barrel Man!

Also, Drew, I know it was late for today’s deadline, but something on The UConn ladies’ title streak falling would be nice…

  5. I was wondering if anyone would mention the WOMEN. Perhaps a bit more positively, tho. What a night, Yankees, Dancing With the Stars, Castle, and the Final Two! Who could possibly not be butt planted in front of the television for many hours? That was some defensive game between the Cinderellas! Hey when Butler wins tonight, will they still be in the pumpkin carriage or will they be in glass slippers in tomorrow’s toon?
