Broncos: It wasn’t Pretty

Todays cartoon was drawn for 9News

It was ugly. As ugly as those silly Cheeseheads Packers fans wear. Clearly, the Tebow controversy, is NOT the issue. The Broncos are in the very first phase of a rebuilding project. Trying to put the Broncos back together after Josh McDaniels dismantled them is going to take more than a few seasons. Sure I think Tebow would make it more fun to watch, because obviously what we saw yesterday was downright painful to witness. But even Tebow isn’t going to be able to make this miserable start to the season any more bearable. It’s time to put the high expectations back in the hope chest and accept the Broncos as they are. I know. It’s not easy. But it is what it is.

  1. Sigh. Another rebuilding year. I was fortunate today, though. I got to watch my beloved Broncos get their butts whipped on national television. Ah well. There are compensations, though. The Raiders got their butts kicked as well.

I have to agree with Bill Cowher on the CBS “NFL Today” show – if things don’t improve by the bye week, go ahead and start Tebow. He can use the experience of what it’s like to get booed by the Bronco faithful. And Elway didn’t exactly shake the heavens his first year, either.

Whatever happens, I figure Orton’s gone after this year. I like him, but he’s just good enough to get us beat, to paraphrase the SI.com writer.

  2. Drew,

Your comments capture the melancholy of the remainder of the Donks’ season. The rebuilding is going to be a long process but we can, even today, catch glimmers of our future given to us by players like Eric Decker and Von Miller. We aren’t going too far this year, but we can enjoy watching competent coaching and management get our beloved team back on track.

  3. Good Morning from Omaha,

would it have made a difference if the game was played in Denver?

Just a thought. The packers are very good, most of the players on the teams in the AFC west could not make the practice squad of the packers. Not just denvers but oakland, and kansas cities.

The chiefs and the bronco’s are on their way but its like the old proverb “a journey of a thousand miles begins with just a single step.” the chiefs and the bronco’s are still trying to find their walking shoes.

Yes thats a paraphrase but its going to be a long road for the bronco’s and the chiefs.

keep an eye on that road and try to enjoy the ride.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  4. Rogers was phenomenal yesterday. Nobody could have beaten him. I stopped getting upset at the Broncos at one point and just marveled at what that guy was doing.

  5. OK, to some folks Tebow is the second coming. Personally I’m tired of the furor. So, my question to all the football wizards is:

What’s the life expectancy of a running quarterback?

I watched until they scored their 3rd TD, then I found something else to waste my time on.

  6. Drew,

At least your toon made me laugh about yesterday. The Broncos were holding their own until half time, then they go into that locker room and a totally different team comes out. Maybe they shouldn’t go into the locker room when they’re doing good. Just a thought.
