I’ve been having some wierd thoughts about Paterno since his firing. Penn State football has been his life for 50+ years. I’ve known people who soon after having their job taken away from them died a short time later. Recently 60 minutes guy Andy Rooney died about a month after his final broadcast. As I recall football coach Bear Bryant died after his term with Alabama was gone. I’ve known some people (non-famous) who passed on after retiring. In these cases it was because once they retired they didn’t know what to do with the rest of their lives.
Perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised (but I am) that as much as right now fans outside of Penn State are vilifying the man the students of the school are going nuts trying to get him back. There has to be some psychological explination for this that would make sense but I can’t think of what it could be. Of course the fact that its 4 a.m. and my sleep has been (bleep) tonight might account for that.
Before I close this letter I want to give my fellow soldiers (both serving and retired) a Happy Veteran’s Day. This is your day to be proud of the jobs you did to protect this country. May this be the day you stand a little taller and a lot prouder.
All the best

Good Morning from Omaha,
First , Thank you to our veterans for your service to our country.
Final comments from me on the Penn State scandal- let the pieces fall where they may. Anyone who was involved, from McQueary on up need to come forward and explain what happened and their role in it.
while it is shame what has happened- that shame is nothing in comparison to the shame the children involved were/ are going through.
Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

I was always told to reserve judgment until all the facts were in, but boy is this hard. I fear we may never know all the facts which I suppose I could take as cause to start judging. Sexual abuse of a child just hits too close to home. Just makes me want to get the baseball bats up and start swinging at molesters.
