Teeebowwwwww!

It didn’t end like so many had hoped. But Bronco Nation can stand proud regardless. This was a team that was picked to finish last in the AFC West. They had a quarterback that no one said could win in the NFL. They were told they had no shot to beat the Steelers in the first round of the playoffs. Above all, this was a team that made it FUN to watch the Broncos again. Sure there are a lot of questions to be answered in the off-season but there’s time enough for that. Let me know your thoughts are about the season. I’d love to hear your insight.

Also, one more thing since we are in the midst of a long weekend holiday, I’m wondering how you feel about the changes I’ve made here on the blog. Would you rather I went back to the scroll kind of site, where the cartoons are stacked one underneath each other? I’ve considered adding a slider so you can scroll horizontally through the cartoons as well. So let me know if you have any preferences.

  1. Hi Drew 🙂 I was wondering how you were going to end the season for us fans! Terrific cartoon. My opinion, the many Bronco & Tebow fans around the nation will continue to support our team. Tim has brought the team closer & brought some confidence back… to players and fans alike. I personally am happy with the Broncos & their efforts this year. It wasn’t what fans or players wantedagainst the Pats, but we need to be proud of what was accomplished~what many thought was going to be a joke of a team & season. They need to take a serious look at what is/isn’t working. The Broncos need a lot of work in meshing, timing plays, & simple basics of football. They need to keep the fire in their bellies! I look forward to the new season. As far as this site, I would like to see a horizontal scroll of the toons. Just easier for me! Thanks for all the cartoons that made us laugh through the Bronco season.

  2. It was the most fun I can remember in a long while. Before the Steelers game I couldn’t get the John Keyworth song out of my head. They sure “Make Those Miracles Happen” this year and I hope we have many more.

  3. Hi Mr. Drew! I think that the slider idea would be a good addition. As far as the Bronco’s go, it was fun to watch. Tebow proved that you can be a positive role model in the NFL. I believe that he can and will be a threat to any team that they play. I just hope that he can learn to throw a pass that doesnt look like a wounded duck. Keep up the great work!

  4. The football gods were angry with me this weekend, for some reason. All of the teams that I wanted to win, lost. My Cajun relatives support the Saints, so that one hurt. I live in San Antonio, and it was nice to see a team from Texas not called “Cowboys” in the playoffs. And even though Green Bay beat us this year, I hold no grudge because we beat them in what I think was the best Super Bowl ever.

The Broncos loss was heartbreaking for the lopsided score, but to go from 4-12 to 8-8 and win their first playoff game in years made it exciting to be a Broncos fan again, and I’ve been one since 1977 when I was 12.

Now that the season is over, we can tone down the “Tebowing” rhetoric and let him go work with the coaches and Elway. I’d really like to see a 12-4 record next year.

I do like the site redesign; the new front is more appealing to me. I host and run an editorial cartoon site for John Branch (http://branchtoon.com) and I have a slider on the front page which shows the latest 12 cartoons.

  5. Good Morning from Omaha,

Its been a great football season. All the drama that was the chiefs season both off and on the field and then the way the bronco’s were saddled up with Tim tebow made for a full sunday most of the season.

Both the chiefs and the bronco’s have a lot of work to do. I don’t think the bronco’s will go 12-4, you can’t predict next year until the schedule comes out, but I do think they will win more than they lose. The chiefs- find a qb and an offensive line somewhere and wake me when you do.

I prefer the old site where you can scroll down the site and see the older cartoons. Now that the saints are out who are your picks? where did the 9ers come from. are the giants really that good? sundays game between the pats and the ravens will be an instant classic, or it sets up to be one.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  6. This has been the funnest season in Bronco football since 1999. Get a few good players to help out the team in a couple of key areas, give Tebow a little time to grow as a QB, and we will be in the Super Bowl in a couple of years!

Drew, you do a great job os sensing what the fans are feeling. By The Way, I would have to say I like the old format better. Your site is one of my favorite places to visit on the net.

PS – you may be interested on my blog that I wrote about people’s opposition to Tebow.

  7. Can’t wait to see Tebow back after an real offseason!

I agree with George, about the blog layout. I love your comics, but I find it annoying that I have to open up a new webpage everytime I want to view a comic. I liked being able to scroll down and view other comics, rather then open up several pages.

    Love the Blog, thanks!

  8. Drew, I always enjoy your drawings and you do seem to capture the sentiment of the fans. I also agree, this was the first time in a long time I’ve been excited about even watching the games again.

I hope the Broncos will take the time to develop Tim Tebow, like they did with John Elway. It really bothers me when I hear we’re shopping for a quarterback and Tim isn’t long for the Bronco team. Why wouldn’t we capitalize on him and the excitement (and notoriety) he brings to this team? A good back up would be great (like Kubiak for Elway), but I really hope they don’t look to replace Tim.

I can’t wait until next year!!!

  9. Drew–

Gotta say that you captured the sinking feeling of that last game against the Patriots perfectly.

The Broncos have nothing to be ashamed of regarding this season, especially compared to the abysmal mess of the previous one. I hope they keep Tim Tebow on; he seems to fire up/inspire the team. That is something that Orton just couldn’t do.

As for your site, I liked being able to scroll down to see older cartoons. It works better with the small screen on my laptop.

  10. I’ve been a fan since the 70s so I’ve seen a lot of highs and lows. It’s wonderful to enjoy the team again, to actually clear my Sunday schedules again, and to scream so much at the TV that my neighbors come to check on my welfare.

The game might have been a disappointment, but the season rocked. I can’t wait until this fall!

  11. I have to admit that I’m not a Broncos fan, as I hated every Sunday that it was F*** Orton, or Tebow would just blow up twitter, and I could not use it for hours. But it was always fun watching your cartoons. I can’t wait until the Rockies start up.

As for your site, your site is probably one of the few that can handle the thumbnail version because of your comics. I have the site bookmarked on my laptop screen as well as on iphone safari so I can check it several times a day. It’s not so much an issue on the iphone when I tip it sideways and zoom in on the page. I’m not sure if the slider helps on mobile, or is even usable. Otherwise, I like it, because I can see the general comic without the text–and I can click to read the text (and all the comments afterwards.)
