Broncos dilemma

ortontoon

Good News, Bad News

That seems to be the day to day situation with the Denver Broncos. What do think? Is Orton the guy? Do you think the Broncos will be better off without Jay Cutler. And what about this crazy Brandon Marshall hold out? Bring on those comments.

  1. So, with a new head coach, an all-star quarterback that has left for greener pastures, and a replacement QB that has all of us questioning, “What will the Orton Effect* be?” Now the golden boy with magical hands wishes to leave. But I ask, does Marshall really want to leave over a contract dispute or because he smells a sinking ship? With a new head coach, new QB, and a pretty much everything else new, we all figure that at best, this is a rebuilding year for the Broncos. Is Brandon too good (in his own mind) to go through a rebuilding year? Either way it is apparent that he does not want to be here and that type of attitude rarely helps a team.

So, I guess what I am saying is, let Marshall have his wish and trade him. In fact, cut out all of the “out of focus” scenarios of the Orton Effect and let us just concentrate on getting better.

    * The Orton Effect is named after Michael Orton who first used the technique is a sandwich of two images, one in focus the other out of focus

  2. Good Morning from Omaha,

Orton really didn’t tear them up in Chicago and the coach seemed to play one against the other at quarterback. that is like just jamming the gears back and forth on a car and then wondering why the transmission wears out.

I have never heard of the Orton effect, but it seems appropriate to use in this conversation.

It takes a singular focus, everyone working toward the same goal, all of the oars in the water and every other cliche.

Marshall needs to put his ego away. He is still young, very, and and I really think in spite of public relations disaster that was Cutler, the bronco’s will head down the road, even though the game they play will look different and he needs to be involved as a building block.

Now as a chief fan, if if little Mac can do away with the naked boot leg we would really appreciate the help because the chiefs could never defend it very well.

Plus we don’t know how Cassel will do. One year wonder or a serious potential star.

But it is june and camp starts in about 40 days so it is all speculation.

Strive for excellence, NOthing but your best.

  3. This year should be very interesting, I have so much to say in not enough time to say it. Marshall can go ahead and stay, leave him here and let his contract expire. Let him rot like Chad Johnson in Cinci, unless the Broncos can get something good for B-Marsh (Calvin Megatron Johnson would be nice) . As far as Orton goes well let me say this. I was in Vegas last month and a another guy had a Chicago Bear Cutler Jersey on. I approached him and said “Good Luck with that Guy!” He told me the same thing. Im confused, I dont know what to think about Orton yet. I am gonna give him a chance, then we can go from there. If coach Mac is who he says he is, then he could develop Orton like no one could in Chicago. I am gonna stay positive and let things deal themselves out.

  4. Professional Athletes and their attitudes drive me crazy. The Broncos need Marshall’s playing ability, big time, but they don’t need his attitude. I think that if the Broncos want to make a serious statement they should treat him like Ochocinco and call his bluff. If he wants to sit the whole season then let him.(Although this choice would hurt the Broncos as well.) This “kid” has no real since of reality. He is on the verge of either becoming one of the best receivers in this league or the next Pacman Jones. Call it his own crossroads, and I’m going to guess that he won’t make the right decision. He has million dollar talent and a 5 cent head…

This is becoming a bigger issue in sports these days, character vs. ability and which is more valuable. Obviously you want both and the athletes that do have both are getting paid ie. Larry Fitzgerald. Which the Cardinals have a very interesting and similar situation with Boldin. But the major difference is that Boldin is still handling his business and showing up for work. Which Boldin, will eventually get paid for by either the Cardinals or another team once his contract expires. I would much rather have Boldin over Marshall just because of attitude.

What a difference between Rod Smith and Marshall… I guess we were just spoiled.

  5. Folks, this is going to be a rebuilding year for Denver anyway. If Marshall wants to sit and whine in the corner; let him. If he wants a trade, give it to him. He’s got a chip on his shoulder and eventually it will either drop him on the ground or someone will knock it off.

I will be pleasantly surprised if Denver goes .500 this season, and ecstatic if they do better than that. But I really don’t have much hope for the Broncos this year. However, I’d accept a 2-14 record as long as our two victories come against the Raiders.

As for Cutler; the main thing I’m ticked off about him is that I have a pro away jersey in my closet that cost $150 (it was a Christmas present). It’s not like I’m going to wear that in public again.

Truth be told; I’d expect Denver to go 4-12 this year at best; the new coach will get his walking papers, and then Bowlen will go after someone like Cowher. No really good coach wants to come in after a big winner, and Shanny was a big winner – despite the last 10 years, he did give Denver back to back Lombardi trophies.

I’ve been a Bronco fan since the Orange Crush days, and I’m not giving up on my team now, or ever. Oh, I’ll complain, but I’m not giving up on them.

    Hoo-rah.

  6. I agree with Harry will bleed orange and blue for life, but Dove Valley should be call Clown Alley for the way this off season has been ran!!!!! Sad part is they gave up next year’s number one for a corner just what we needed?!?!?!! A top ten next year for a corner!!!!!! As far as Brandon let him go, I like him but, he is two strikes from becoming Pac-man 2. I still think the hoodies sends his coaches out so he can get better!!! Let them destory the other teams!!

  7. I am a charter member of the Fire McDaniels club, but I’m not blaming the latest Marshall problem on him. This guy is an idiot. Here’s hoping Denver can get at least a 2nd round pick for this moron.

Orton is not accurate. HIs completion % is like 55%. Better WR’s will bump that up closer to 60%, but still isn’t that great. I shudder when I hear Woody Paige report that he has 1-2 INTs returned for TDs when he’s playing against the 2nd string and scout teams. The pre-season games will be interesting. If he’s throwing INTs against the vanilla D in those games, then he won’t last September as the starter. I think if the Broncos are gong to actually pull this together without drafting and developing QB then SImms needs to step up or maybe the 3rd string is a diamond in the rough.
