A Salute to Sakic

Sakic was special
Here’s my favorite cartoon featuring Joe Sakic, done right after the Avalanche won their first Stanley Cup. I love the fact that it contains both Sakic and Elway.
There aren’t many guys like Joe Sakic. He was, and is, class personified. Colorado will miss him. I invite all of you to share your favorite Joe Sakic memory here.
Prints of this Sakic-Elway cartoon are now available for purchase for $25 each which includes shipping and handling. Every 8×10 full color print is perfect for framing and is sent to you in a cardboard photo mailer. Just go to the Paypal donate button above and follow the directions to make your payment. Drew –
You’re absolutely right when you say Joe Sakic
was “class personified”. The best example of that,
in my mind, was when the Avs had just won the 2001
Stanley Cup. As team captain, it was Joe’s right to
be the 1st to skate around the rink holding the Cup.
So, what does he do? Without hesitation, he hands
the Cup to Ray Borque to “do the honors”. That tells you
all you need to know about Joe Sakic.
Happy trails Joe! Thanks for being one of the best. Also thanks for bringing the cup to Denver a couple of times.
Drew will you make one more Sakic cartoon? To Denver he was one of the greatest on and off the ice. My wife works at childrens as a RN nurse she told me that Joe not only went to the cancer patients but to see all the kids at childrens hospital. What a class act! I was speechless listening to the press confrence this afternoon and I would like to say that we will all miss “Super” Joe.
