Contracts. Mega million dollar contracts for people to hit a baseball, shoot a basketball, throw a pass, score a goal. Meanwhile the unemployment rate hovers at 10% (or so we are told) and good honest people who just want to work still can’t find a job. If I ran the world, which I know is a scary thought, teachers, librarians, social workers, construction workers, and that waitress who is a single mother and works two jobs to feed her two kids at home would all be very, very wealthy people. Athletes? No. They’d make enough to keep them right smack dab in the middle of the middle class, which, by the way, is vanishing before very eyes throughout America. Now, if there are some among us who have to be, well, just above the poverty line, it would the politicians in Washington who stopped caring about us and their country a long time ago.
Yeah. I’d love to see some of those members of congress struggle to make ends meet. To know what it feels like to have your heat cut off in the dead of winter because you can’t pay the bill. To not be able to afford a few Christmas presents to put under the tree for your kids this year. A dose of reality, you know. And, you know, the more I think about it, maybe some of those athletes could stand a little perspective and deal with those kinds of issues as well. Some of them are pretty clueless. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this as well.

Here’s another cartoon toasting the Cardinals incredible journey to the win the World Series. It was inspiring to watch. Sorry to hear Tony LaRussa has decided to hang up the cleats. He brought so much to game of baseball. He’ll be missed.

Glad to hear the Chiefs beat the Chargers in OT. And really glad to know that Philip Rivers contributed. I’m just not a fan of the way the guy acts. He’s a little too cocky for me. What do you think? I prefer guys like Rod Smith and Drew Brees. Guys who just play the game and keep the drama off the field.

The Cardinals season has been all about comebacks and overcoming incredible odds. Game 6 of the Series will go down as one of the classic games in World Series history, an epic example of a team who refused to quit. Played with several concepts before I settled on this one.
I’ll have a CU Buffs cartoon up later today…

With the World Series now going to Game 7, I’m feeling a bit nostalgic for days gone by. Oh, well. There’s always next year. Or the year after that. Or the year after that. I’m drawing live for ESPN.com tomorrow night so expect a World Series cartoon and a Boulder Daily Camera cartoon on Saturday morning!
But here’s the cool news:
You are invited to this fun afternoon event next Saturday, November 5 from 3:00 to 6:00 at MVP Sports in the Belmar Shopping Center with me and my pal, Kyle Banister, the Nations Best Baseball artist!
We’ll be signing prints and selling originals (great holiday gifts) and who knows what all.
Kyle makes some pretty mean baseball themed guitars and has a great print to commemorate the 2011 World Series. Afterwards you’re welcome to join us just across the street to watch the Alabama-LSU game at the Baker St. Pub and Grill. We’ll have a blast! So come on by! I’ll give you some more details early next week.
Here’s whatcha need to know for now:
Saturday, November 5 · 3:00pm – 6:00pm
Location
MVP Sports: Cards, Memorabilia and Art
414 S Teller St, in the Belmar Shopping Center

I think I’ve drawn somewhere around 23, 24 years of these. this one is more national in scope.
Thanks to everyone on the great response to the latest Tebow cartoon. I know he was pretty awful for the first 3 and almost 4 quarters but he got the win. This week against Detroit might well be a different story.

A brief note on Postings:
I’ve kept the three day a week note in the header of the site, because I know I will post at least that many each week. Of course sometimes it will be more. I hope that works for everyone for now. I think the rss feed helps you know when I post.
