Never let ‘em see ya sweat
Or so the story goes. But you better believe David Stern is feeling a little nervous about now. His “Dream Team” match-up of Kobe vs. LeBron is about to go up in smoke. We’ll know pretty soon if the fix is on if suddenly the Cavs come back and Kobe finds a teammate to help him do anything on the court. Me? I’m pulling for the big upsets. It’s so much more fun that way.

I like this internet thing
This is one of those cartoons that might not have made it in print, but here, well the time was just right for this gag. The Nuggets dominated game 4 of the Western Conference Finals and evened the series. The Nuggets were ferocious on the boards all night. The difference between these two teams and the reason why I think the Nuggets will win this thing. The Bench. The Lakers simply don’t have one. The Birdman was his usually electric self, flying often into the rafters for rebounds and causing chaos with those flailing arms…uh…wings of his. It’s a sight to behold ain’t it? Go ahead Nuggets fans…Tell me all about it. Leave your comments below…

Nuggets report stolen game.
The Nuggets had the Lakers right where they wanted them. Against the ropes, down for the count and they let ‘em up just long enough to give ‘em life. This puts the Nuggets in a pressure cooker on Thursday night. They know they have to get one back. It won’t be easy, but the Nuggets did show that the Lakers are in for a tussle. Thank goodness for the WWE afterall.

Don’t forget the Caption contest
Great entries so far. I hope you guys have as much fun writing them as I do reading them. I can tell this week it’s going to be tough to pick a winner.
So, what do you all think of game one? Observations? Coaching advice? Kidnap Kobe? Let me know!

Don’t know if your living room or den looks like this, but , hey, it’s a place to start. Tomorrow night most of Denver will be glued to their sets. Lakers fans, not so much. They have a way of kind of looking down on the Nuggets. Who can blame them. The Nuggets have been at the bottom of the barrel for so long most people forgot they were still in it.

Lets here some predictions Nuggets fans?

Laker’s it is. Bring ‘em on. Give ‘em a taste of the Birdman and Billups (sounds like a sitcom doesn’t it?). Let Melo make mincemeat of ‘em I say. Just get it going already.
No matter how much you are enjoying this Nuggets run I think everyone would agree with me that it takes too long to get to this point. An 8 month season followed by 4 months of playoffs. Or so it seems.
It should be a fun one. And, really I can’t complain. It gives me something other then the Rockies to draw about.

Friends
I spent some time over the weekend with some dear friends I have not seen in awhile. My neighbors before we moved were the greatest people in the world. Larry and Linda Kapke’s daughter, Laura, graduates next weekend and they had a party for her. Rick and Susie O’ Keefe, the folks who lived right next door me at the time, hosted the party. Tim and Catherine Kubik were there as well. These people are some of the dearest most loving people on the planet. It was great to see them again. If you haven’t seen or heard from an old friend, call them. Or better yet, go see them and give them a hug. It will do you both some good.

Today’s View From the Bull Pen

The odds aren't good. Simply put waiting for an NBA player to make a free throw is a bit like waiting for the Cubs to win the World Series. It just ain't gonna happen. At least in our lifetimes. It reminds me of one of my favorite stories. Legendary basketball coach Don Haskins, all 250 plus pounds of him, had a player who apparently thought a bit highly of himself and didn't find his deficiency at the free throw line to be that big of a deal. Haskins challenged him to a free throw contest and let the kid go first. The kid hit a couple out of 10 or so and proudly handed old man Haskins the ball. After the coach hit his 100th in a row without a miss the kid learned his lesson. Don't argue with the Bear. And learn to shoot free throws.

There isn't a way to leave comments in the Bull Pen (that I've found yet) so please feel free to leave your comments under the latest cartoon that I post.
