Since we are moving into the Holiday weekend and so many will be away from the office, which as we know is where most of us view this blog, I thought we’d take a week away from the contest and fire it up for next Friday June 3rd.
I’m going to take Monday off as well, but I might post a cartoon anyway. Next week I’ll be changing syndicates and moving over to Universal Press from United Features. I have been with United since 1984, drawing two cartoons a week for them. Scripps Howard decided in February to close down the distribution part of United and send all of their creative property over to Universal (Calvin and Hobbes old syndicate). Universal is a terrific syndicate embracing all of the changes that are facing the publishing industry. I’ll let you know more next week. This doesn’t change anything here on this blog, it just means I’ll be having my national work distributed a bit differently by a new company. My Thanks to United for so many great years. They stood by me during some very dark, difficult personal tragedies and I will forever be indebted to them for having done so. Thanks to Lisa and Saul and Randy and everyone at United!
