Free At Last from doing anymore Lindsey Vonn cartoons for awhile! And starting tomorrow we return to our regularly scheduled program.

So what’s on your mind in the real world of sports? NHL, NBA? I wanna know!

Wow! What a finish in Vancouver! The hockey game was amazing and, I’m sure, left Joe Sakic very happy. The rest of us Americans, not so much. Valiant effort by the USA regardless. And Ryan Miller was Patrick Roy Incredible! Still personally more than disappointed that RUSH didn’t play the closing ceremonies. But, hey we all had our letdowns. I know for sure I won’t miss hearing Lindsey Vonn 24 hours a day. A big Thanks to the Chicago Tribune for making it possible to do so many Olympic cartoons. I had a blast!

Site Changes. As you can see I had a busy weekend reconfiguring the site one more time. I promise it won’t be changing on you again any time soon. Thanks for the feedback everyone! I think the look is cleaner, easier to navigate and more defined as a Sports Cartoon Blog. I’ll be adding some Video content soon, in the studio stuff of me showing you how I work and some How-To-Draw-Elway tips. I think it’s going to be a blast. There will also be a Q & A category in the header for some fun inside facts. I also hope to have a BIG announcement by weeks end. Thanks to everyone for continuing to read “win, lose & Drew” cartoons. I’m committed to bringing you great cartoon content 5 Days-a-week (and sometimes more) now more than ever. Enjoy, and as always I value your comments so much!

I think this one is my favorite cartoon of the Olympics. I thought it fit the spirit of the Women’s Canadian Hockey team.
I’m still fiddling with the site this weekend so if you see different incarnations you’ll know what’s going on. I’m going to finish it up so that Monday Morning the site is done and other than evaluating your response and seeing if Mingle is a good fit it will be the new look for the foreseeable future. Sound good?

Gotta admit…it’s never boring. It seems the infighting on the slopes has mad it’s way Sports Illustrated and beyond. Personally I’d like to say, Can’t we just get along.

I’ll be back later in the day for a bit of Rocky Mountain News memories. It was one year ago today that we closed the doors and stopped the presses on the greatest newspaper in Colorado. I really hope you’ll join me.

And, finally, yes, I’ll be making some more changes to the blog to make it feel more like a sports blog. Please be patient. Thanks.

Curling is probably the weirdest sport in the Olympics. But it has its place. It gives us all inspiration in our own lives. For cleaning the garage.
Honest. I’ll go back to regular kinds of sports cartoons right after Rush plays YYZ in the closing ceremonies. It gives me two things to look forward to.

Today’s View From the Bull Pen

The odds aren't good. Simply put waiting for an NBA player to make a free throw is a bit like waiting for the Cubs to win the World Series. It just ain't gonna happen. At least in our lifetimes. It reminds me of one of my favorite stories. Legendary basketball coach Don Haskins, all 250 plus pounds of him, had a player who apparently thought a bit highly of himself and didn't find his deficiency at the free throw line to be that big of a deal. Haskins challenged him to a free throw contest and let the kid go first. The kid hit a couple out of 10 or so and proudly handed old man Haskins the ball. After the coach hit his 100th in a row without a miss the kid learned his lesson. Don't argue with the Bear. And learn to shoot free throws.

There isn't a way to leave comments in the Bull Pen (that I've found yet) so please feel free to leave your comments under the latest cartoon that I post.
