Nodar-tirbute

What a horrible way to start the games. Word has it that many people complained about the luge track being too fast. Three crashes on Friday, one ending in the tragic loss of a young promising athlete. There will be more on this story but I wanted to share this cartoon from Saturdays Chicago Tribune.

    gmfo,
in light of what happened to the georgian on the luge they have shortened the track and built the wall on turn 16 higher.
I saw a guy from NBC say that the course the lugers were on was very difficult.
He explained that the top 12 lugers in the world could probably handle most of the original course, but that from 13 on down the course was extremely dangerous. The georgian was like 44th in world.
That is better than we will ever be capable of in any sport but at 21 its a waste of a life.
I guess we watch luging like we watch NASCAR, for the wrecks, and with the audience for NASCAR down on television ratings the genuises that drive fast and turn left have decided to let the driver be more aggressive and remove the restictor plates.
Hence giving US more of what we want….
Car crashes, fires and tires flying into the stands.
We, as a whole, are a strange bunch when you think about it.
My car is fster than yours, I can drink more than you, I have a bigger house than yours and around the water cooler “Did you see that crash yesterday…the door flew off the car and the guys helmet was hanging out the window. and once the car stopped rolling over and over, the guy got out and hit the other guy with his helmet.
And they say pro rasslin’ is fake. Check out NASCAR.
OUr need for more speed, is it really human nature, is what got the luger killed.
    Higher faster, stronger. Go figure.
Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

NBC should not have shown the video of that luger crashing and dying. It was poor judgement on their part. Even the stills, some of which appeared in newspapers, are disturbing.

Today’s View From the Bull Pen

The World is in Chaos, The Economy is in the Dumpster...And Peyton Manning throws a Pass. Nice to know we have it all in perspective.

There isn't a way to leave comments in the Bull Pen (that I've found yet) so please feel free to leave your comments under the latest cartoon that I post.
