Latest Chicago Tribune Cartoon

For all of the Notre Dame fans out there. Sorry, Charlie. He’s gone. And don’t be too surprised to see Mike Shanahan’s name pop up on the Irish look list.

Calendars!

Thanks to everyone who ordered a calendar. I’ll be posting reminders but I’ve added a button in the sidebar that can take you right to the order page.

Site Changes

You’ll notice some changes to the site. I’ve taken the ads off so that i cn fill the sidebars with more content links. I’ll also be adding a storefront on the site to accommodate some new merchandise in 2010, including t-shirts, books, prints and originals. I’ll also be adding a commission button because in 2010 I’ll be available to draw customized cartoons for you and your special occasion. Sounds like fun!

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

welcome back drew, i hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

wow colorado sets their sites low with Hawkins and Notre Dame set its sites high.

colorado is 3-9 and keeps hawkins, must not be much out there better than dan and Notre Dame goes 6-6 and fires there coach, and gives him $10 million reasons to go away. I have heard its as high as $18 million.

wow and now they are trying to rebuild the program -again. I have tried to feel sorry for charlie but he isn’t going to be hurting and will find his way back into the NFL, hopefully in Kansas City as O.C.

the knock against NE in recruiting or one of them is that they have gone through 3 coaches in the last 6-7 years and that the program is still trying to find its way.

what do they say about Notre Dame????

maybe hawkins will learn from this year, make some changes and put colorado in line for getting back on the pedestal that everyone in the big 12 aspires too. They are not a bad football team, they can get up and play well but lack a lot of consistency. Thats coaching not players.

strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene

  2. Good morning Drew –

Thanks for this, it’s going right next to the touchdown jesus with a bag over his head from a couple of years ago.

I’m an avid Notre Dame fan, and I’m not sad to see Charlie go. Well, I kindof am. He dug his own grave by taking too long to realize that maybe, just maybe, he didn’t know everything he thought he did. ND had a great offense this year, but I could drive my 1996 Ford Bronco through the holes in the defense, and because of that – ND lost 5 games by less then a touchdown. The old Pac-10 offensive scheme of just plain outscoring your opponents doesn’t work anymore. Not even in the Pac-10.

No coach going into this job is going to have it easy, so I’ll say a prayer for the next guy (Brian Kelly?) and hope that he’s able to get the Irish back to regular bowl appearances (that aren’t the Mr. Clean Porcelain Tidy Bowl) and yet maintain the academic integrity it’s known for.

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  3. OH – and you’re quote of the day:

There are two kinds of people in the world, Notre Dame lovers and Notre Dame haters. And, quite frankly, they’re both a pain in the ass.

-Dan Devine – former Notre Dame football coach

  4. Hi everyone…Great comments this morning. The Devine quote is hilarious. Hadn’t heard that one.

Gene, everyone here is stunned that they kept Hawkins. That’s the CU program in a nutshell. They keep believing they are Big 12 football. They really are more Mountain West. They can’t compete at the Big 12 level any more.

  5. Good to see you back in print. To bad we cant see you in print here in denver, in the Denver Post
