Ding Dong the Witch is Dead!

Uncategorized

Let’s get our priorities straight. While much of the world will be either dancing or protesting in the streets over the passage of the health Care Bill in the Supreme Court I’ll be celebrating elsewhere. C’mon people! We know that getting an actual College Football Playoff System and killing off the BCS in the process is far more significant than any little health care bill! Celebrate, Celebrate Dance to the Music!!!!

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

the debate stirred by the bcs was fun. at times, two teams could claim to be #1. the coaches might have a team and the writers another.Nothing was really settled in some years or in most years.

this new system has someone and I never heard who, picking the top 4 teams. Hopefully nothing as stupid as when someone decided it would be a good thing for Nebraska, who had a 9 win season and finished second or third in the former big 12, would travel out to Pasadena and play top ranked Miami. the result was a miserable game and more reasons for the corn heads to cry in their beer.

The playoffs will grow after the first year to probably 8 or 12 teams. the money will be too large to ignore.the seed has been planted. Hopefully it will grow and include your favorite team as well.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  2. It’s a bit too late for my Oklahoma State Cowboys, but I’ll take it, However, I am worried that the SEC will find a way to claim two or three spots every year.

  3. Drew–

I was shocked to hear about the end of the BCS. Did the NCAA get it right with their proposed playoffs? Will the choices for the four playoff teams be fair, or biased? We shall see… it will be VERY interesting. I’m reserving some popcorn for this!

  4. Dear Drew,

As you know I complained (heavily) about how the BCS revolved around the “good old boys” (your term actually)and anybody who wasn’t a good old boy was given the bums rush for the national title game. This may be an improvement but I don’t think its much of one since I still can’t see any non elite conference getting into this tournament, much less winning the whole thing.

I’m concerned what would happen if one of the 4 teams in this tournament didn’t even win their own conference (like what happened in this years championship game)

Now this next idea may be impractical but I’d still love to see it. Have the winners of every conference in the tournament which I think would cause it to last 4 rounds max. Like I said, impractical maybe. Its just what I want to see thought.

    All the best

  5. I have to admit that I am out of the “proverbial” loop when it comes to what conference a team plays in, and the whole BCS thing. At the end of the season, all that matters to me is seeing “my” team hoisting a championship trophy. So, please forgive me if I am not excited about the end of the BCS, Drew. Because I know you, I’ll trust that it is a good thing. Oh, and “GO BUFFS!!!!”
