Ducks Under Glass

Considering both teams had to wait 40 days and 40 nights to play the game making this look more like a season opener than a National title game, the IDW (It Doesn’t Work) Championship game had an exciting finish. The first 3.75 quarters, not so much. I’m not sure I feel too hot about the call that got Auburn in position to win the game but, hey, that’s the way the replay bounces.

A couple of quick opinions. If you want the grass to be as slick as it was just move indoors and play it on an ice skating rink, and Cam Newton is the next JaMarcus Russell. Or Vince Young. Take your pick.

Oh, and if you want to know why we will never have a College Football playoff for Divison 1 schools? Here’s your answer…http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=%2Fg%2Fa%2F2011%2F01%2F10%2Ffanhousebowlspaybowlofficial.DTL

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

well the snow and college football are finally over! THose pompous presidents and chancellors and there worry about the education of the student/athlete(?) and missing school.

That cabbage has been chewed and its time has passed. Like I said on facebook- give these full time coaches 40 days and nights to prepare and they can tell you what the odds are that the other team has wheaties or omelets for breakfast.

The sec is by far the best conference money can buy!

strive for excellence, nothing but your best!

  2. Dear Drew,

I’ve been saying this thoughout the year and after watching the game last night I’m even more convinced. TCU would have stuck their “Horned Frogs” up where the sun doesn’t shine against both the Tigers and Ducks. Nobody can convince me that either team was better than TCU. If Boise State hadn’t pulled a choke against Nevada they would have beaten both teams as well.

All the best (and I refuse to believe Auburn was the best),

  3. This hurt, but good cartoon. The Ducks are better than that game last night, doesn’t mean I think they would have won, just that can play better. Not a big Duck fan, but they were a fun team to watch this year, and they played with purpose and resolve, even when they played lesser programs. Can’t say that I agree with you Louis, but we will never get a chance to see what the outcome would be. Darn shame, too.

  4. Dear Sherri,

Just for the record here you can disagree with me and I’m fine with that. I admit that I have a lot of passion in my views. Maybe that comes with being old and sometimes cantankerous. Still I do wholeheartingly agree with two statements you made. 1) We will never get a chance to see what the outcome would be and #2) Darn shame too.

    All the best

    Louis

  5. Wonder if there ever will be a change in the college football post season? Never thought I would see the NFL tinker with the overtime rule.
