Life Just Ain’t Fair!

And if we ever had any doubts about whether life is fair or not, just ask the three guys in the goat pen. Williams, Welker and Cundiff. Three guys who have gotten a bad wrap for their “mistakes” in post season play. Everybody is human. Time to forgive and forget. Things happen. That’s just the way it works.

One of the metrics I use to judge a cartoonist is how they draw goats. Yours are made of awesome, my friend.

  2. GMFO-

as my son’s home room teacher in 8 th grade used to say- “thats life, life ain’t fair, deal with it!”

those are words he has taken with him down his many varied roads. They will get another chance to prove themselves, again, next season.

Gotta give them that chance, is all I am saying. everyone has a bad day or two or seven but in the NFL that is magnified multiple times because of the 16 game season as opposed to base ball where they get 162 games to prove and reprove themselves.

got to eat food last night. and breakfast this morning and lunch. Passed the barium test but eating has become dining because its bite of food, two swallows, sip of water , two swallows. NO tv or conversation until I can master eating.

STrive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  3. Drew–

You just might draw goats even better than you do horses… but the horses you draw still have the edge in personality.

    Gene–

You’ve made amazing progress in a really short time. It’s a welcome change from all the bad news we seem to hear day in and day out. Keep on keeping on!

  4. Woo-hoo, Gene! Hospital dining at its finest! Is it fair to assume you will be “fully recovered” when you start complaining (if you ever would) about the taste of the hospital food?

Funny how the new goats replace the old goats. Where are Leon Lett, Scott “Wide-Right” Norwood, and Dan Reeves (SB XXI, 3rd Qtr, 1st and 1 on the 1) come to mind. Time is the great equalizer.

  5. @ gene:

Hey Gene – welcome back! Sounds like you’re doing well, and it’s so good to read your comments again!

    Strive for excellence, indeed!

  6. Just catching up on your blog, Drew, after a few days away. 😉

@ Gene: Glad to read that you are progressing in your recovery. Hoping to read of more wonderful improvements, as I catch up on Drew’s blog. Keep up the awesome work!!!

@ Drew: Great cartoon! The first person I thought of after reading your commentary, was Jason Elam and all of his missed field goals (reference your iconic goal post cartoon). We all make mistakes. We’re human. Why we humans hold professional athletes (and others) on pedestals as god-like, perfect entities, I will never understand. We expect perfection out of our athletes and their teams. When they don’t perform to our expectations, we are ready to trade them before the end of the season.

Life is way too short. Learn from mistakes, and make every attempt to do better next time. As Gene always says, “Strive for excellence. Nothing but your best.” The key to falling down is getting back up again.
