Or go here if the player doesn’t work: Monday Night Madness Animated Cartoon

Here’s the debut of what I hope will be many more Monday Night Madness Animated cartoons. I worked on this with my friend and fellow animator extraordinaire, Rich Moyer, and vocal artist Mike Kaminksi. There are are over 50 drawings in this cartoon alone. It’s a labor of love and was an absolute blast to do. Please help us out by sharing this with as many people as you know. We need a groundswell effort on this so that we can do more of these on ESPN.com. So please go over to ESPN.com and leave some comments and share the video with others.

  1. GMFO,

wow, that was a lot of work. I am not an expert but I know what I enjoy. Rex Ryans reputation is based on his earthy language and the fact that his team wins. tony Dungy is the exact opposite and he wins also. after a while the “earthy language” will get old and the players will stop responding, especially if his teams quit winning. Maybe my funny bone is off today but this cartoon, while difficult to create, just missed the mark with me. Hey they can’t all be roses. as a suggestion maybe you should have used Tony Dungy to do a translation of rex ryan’s end of the conversation.

like I said maybe my funny bone is flat today.

strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

  2. Gene,

Thanks for the constructive feedback. Tony Dungy was in the original script but got nixed because he is a broadcaster for another network. We went through quite a few edits to get to this final mix. I knew we were pushing the envelope from the outset, sometimes that’s not bad. The Good news is we just got Green Lighted on more for the Monday Night Football season! So from that stand point it’s the best thing that has happened since my days at the Rocky Mountain News. I know they will get better. How are you doing , bud? Hey, you need to e-mail me an address for you. I’d like to put something in the mail for you. sportoonz@gmail.com

  4. WM,

Thanks for the kind words. Glad you like the site and the ESPN stuff. I’ve got some fun cartoons on the way so come back early and often!

  5. Drew,

Best BLEEEP toon, I’ve ever BLEEEEEEP seen. Love the animation. You really nailed the character trait of the coach and made it fun, too.

    Congratulations on some great work.

    Mike

  6. Solid BLEEPin’ work, Litton! Let’s see more good BLEEP all season. Now let’s go eat a BLEEPin’ snack!

As for the late Monday game, two things: 1) The way the Arrowhead faithful are making things miserable for poor Phillip Rivers, just be glad they haven’t discovered Vuvuzelas. 2) I’m still adjusting to Monday night games ending after midnight (out East, where I am now) as opposed to just after 10 p.m. (in good old Mountain Time). West Coast hockey games are going to be murder…

  7. Wow! That is so F’in good! This is why I get out of bed every day! Holy S___! But seriously, good work, how long does it take to do an animated?
