Dispatches from the Drawing Board

  • NASCAR was OK with Brad Keselowski tweeting throughout the 2-hour red flag period in the Daytona 500..They are even encouraging their drivers to take full advantage of the world of Social Media, including allowing drivers to have cell phones in their cars.  So there has to be an App for that right?
  • Snow. and more snow. ugh.
  • Did I mention it’s Spring Training in Florida and Arizona. Oh how I miss a good saguaro cactus this time of year.
  • And morning batting practice.
  • It’s Friday! What’s your weekend look like?

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

love the cartoon, Drew. Nascar is a diversion from the weather and nothingness of February. Baseball is coming, soon and if the keep talking about tebow and his “connection” with Lin of the knicks and now his supposedly dating Taylor swift I am going to scream.

Evidently, nothing is going on in the world of sports at ESPN if they have to keep dragging up Tebow.

Start out patient p/t today, so the work continues.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene

  2. Gene: Haven’t said it yet, but glad you’re back. Top comment, too!

And since you asked about the weekend, Drew: EPL on Saturday/Sunday and our HS Soccer season starts Monday (Our little school is ranked 6th in the state), so I’ve got the Beautiful Game on the mind.

  3. What else are they going to do during a red flag warning? NASCAR is silly…how could a driver even reach his cell phone with being so tightly packed into their cars, and wearing all that gear? Gives a whole new meaning to “distracted driving!”

My weekend includes enjoying the talents of a young musician and his band here in the Twin Cities, this evening. The band’s name is “Crankshaft and the Gear Grinders.” Alex plays what he calls “Pork Neck Blues” which has been described by one of his friends as “psycho-billy swamp punk blues.” I love to support musicians who are talented, and work hard honing their craft. Alex does that. Tonight he opens for “The Lamont Cranston Band.” Nice gig!

The rest my weekend includes the status quo domestic goddess duties. Fun, I know.

Everyone have fun and be safe, whatever your weekend brings!

  4. Drew–

Another “Laughing out loud” toon! It reminds me of some of my tech-addicted friends.

    Gene–

Good luck with your out-patient PT.

As for my weekend, I am hoping that it doesn’t rain too much so I can get some outdoor tasks done. I am heartily sick of rain right now. Almost all of our winter precipitation was the wet stuff this year, which is rather odd for the greater Philadelphia area. I’d rather have the white stuff.

  5. I agree, Peg, NASCAR is silly. But they do have a fan base. Gene, work hard, fill us in on a typical day for you now. Drew, have a great weekend, stop down and watch some bowling on Sunday. I will be bowling and working the Greater Portland Women’s Championship tournament this weekend. Next week, bowling in Westminster, CO, be there or be square. Or maybe both…….
