1. I have got to give credit to the New England Patriot Football Club’s ownership/administration for not hesitating in releasing someone that obviously brings bad publicity to the club. Kudos to the Pats organization.

   Now…WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE STUPID PEOPLE? They have tons of good things going in their lives (or at least, from an outside perspective, this is true), and they choose to put themselves in a position to undermine their career, their teammates, and their families.

   Plaxico Burress didn’t need a handgun that night he shot himself accidently, but he had one anyway. STUPID!

   Titus Young couldn’t maintain a low profile and focus on what could have been a great career. STUPID!

   Michael Vick allowed himself to be caught up in a dog-fighting racket and got himself thrown in prison. STUPID!

   Now Aaron Hernandez and Ausar Walcott (LB, Browns) both get released from their teams for circumstances related to taking another human’s life. Are you kidding me? STUPID!

   These athletes have been taking for grated their situations. Don’t they realize where they are? what they’re doing? How many guys would trade their right testacle and go into debt to have an opportunity to play a professional sport at some level, and get paid for doing it. Even if it’s only league minimum. I could handle that. In a heartbeat.

   But although some of my relatives might think so because I’m in no position to actually work in this profession, I’m not STUPID!

   Maybe STUPID is the new “Talented”, or “Athletically gifted”!

   Who knows? But these guys are just plain STUPID!

2. Awesome toon as always Drew, You always know how to capture the moment…Don’t worry about the Pats, they still have Ballard and Dan Fells to turn too along with a rookie draft pick as well. I would not be surprised to see Tim get a few reps there though. You know he’ll do whatever they ask him to.

   Your cartoon is the best thing I’ve seen all day – other than a text message from a dear friend. It’s perfect commentary on the sport news of the day. I love it!

   Belichick will find a way to hold his team together in spite of Hernandez’s stupidity. We all know he doesn’t like to lose, and neither does Tom Brady.

   In the immortal words of Forrest Gump, “Stupid is, as stupid does.” Some professional athletes, and others in the limelight, think that they are above the law, or won’t get caught. I simply don’t get it. They are given every opportunity, and more money than they should ever be paid, and then commit acts that have me shaking my head. Give me one game’s wage of Hernandez’s and I could do so much. What a waste.

4. I thought The Onion headline put it best: “Tim Tebow’s Former Teammate Charged with Murder.” I’m sure that’s how some at ESPN are covering it.

5. Good Morning from Omaha,

   During the NFL draft they kept mentioning “character” guys. Could have been with or without character but the NFL should really put an emphasis on finding guys with good character and not just finding the right 53.

   The player, not to be mentioned by name, had “character” issues while at Florida. More guns, drugs etc. Maybe the Pats thought it was a youthful indiscretion or Maybe head hoodie thought it was all behind the player or at least the players agent assured him it was, and decided to pull a reclamation project like grandpa jerry down in Dallas.

   If you want people of good character, you must value good character other wise you get what you tolerate.
