Drawn for the Rocky Mountain News © 2007
With the World Series now going to Game 7, I’m feeling a bit nostalgic for days gone by. Oh, well. There’s always next year. Or the year after that. Or the year after that. I’m drawing live for ESPN.com tomorrow night so expect a World Series cartoon and a Boulder Daily Camera cartoon on Saturday morning!
But here’s the cool news:
You are invited to this fun afternoon event next Saturday, November 5 from 3:00 to 6:00 at MVP Sports in the Belmar Shopping Center with me and my pal, Kyle Banister, the Nations Best Baseball artist!
We’ll be signing prints and selling originals (great holiday gifts) and who knows what all. Kyle makes some pretty mean baseball themed guitars and has a great print to commemorate the 2011 World Series. Afterwards you’re welcome to join us just across the street to watch the Alabama-LSU game at the Baker St. Pub and Grill. We’ll have a blast! So come on by! I’ll give you some more details early next week.
Here’s whatcha need to know for now:
Saturday, November 5 · 3:00pm – 6:00pm
Location
MVP Sports: Cards, Memorabilia and Art
414 S Teller St, in the Belmar Shopping Center

The Tale of the Rockies Season of 2011 is a curious one. What happened? What didn’t happen? What went wrong and when and how. The thing that makes sports great is there is always the chance to clean the slate and start anew. So here’s to Spring Training 2012!!!!!

One of my favorite sports movies was Bull Durham. So when this months Rockies magazine was looking for a way to express fan appreciation, I arrived at this. Wordier than normal, but a fun way to tweak a fun piece of movie dialogue. Hope you like it. How about you? Any favorite sports movies?

This was a cartoon I did last May about the amazing Ubaldo Jimenez.
I had the chance to see Ubaldo pitch recently at Coors Field against the Braves. His stuff that night was electric. I guess not electric enough to keep him off of the trading block. He will be missed. The Rox picked up some good prospects which is always helpful, but it’s still hard to see such a great pitcher get traded. More details about the deal can be found here: http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci_18591786 and a great column by my old friend from the Rocky Mountain News, Mr. Dave Krieger
I added the Caption Contest in the sidebar and you can continue to add your caption entries by clicking right on the cartoon!

Happy 4th everyone! My latest from the Colorado Rockies magazine. Had fun with this image. I’ve been reading some about the founding fathers and listening to a great book on tape (audible.com) called Washington: A Life. Good stuff. Makes me thankful for the sacrifices those guys made and every American soldier who has ever put their lives on the line for our freedoms.
Have a great day!
