Today’s cartoon was drawn for ESPN.com

It ain’t got no…Philadelphia Phillies.
It ain’t got no…New York Yankees.
It ain’t got no…Boston Red Sox.
No. It’s Texas vs St. Louis, which in and of itself just doesn’t sound right. When I was growing up in Texas we had two sports. Football and spring Football practice. So baseball in Texas still doesn’t seem right. Actually I saw my first pro baseball game as a kid at the Astrodome when the Astros were playing I dunno. They gave away this cool baseball game at the gate when you walked in and I played with it the whole game. I never even looked at the players on the field. I had my own imagination…
The second pro baseball game I saw was the summer of 76 when the Rangers were playing the Detroit Tigers and some kid named Mark “The Bird” Fidrych was pitching. Now that was a blast. Not every day you can watch a grown man on a mound of dirt talking to a baseball. Fidrych was actually a pretty great pitcher that summer. He led the major leagues with a 2.34 ERA, won the AL Rookie of the Year award, and finished with a 19-9 record.
The only other connection I have to the Rangers is the only autographed baseball I own. Nolan Ryan’s foundation sent it for a cartoon I gave them of Ryan taking Robin Ventura to the woodshed during an infamous brawl they had in the 90′s.
So I invite you to share your World Series Memories with me. Did you listen in class as a kid? Have a favorite moment or team that won it all? I’d love to hear about it!

My most recent cartoon from the Chicago Tribune. The Bulls are close to finishing off their series with the Pacers. I’m thinking if Derrick Rose is healthy the Bulls are a contender to win it all.

Happy Opening Day!! Since I consider these couple of days of Baseball openers a National Holiday I decided to go all out for it. Grab some coffee, or a cold beverage and a hot dog and take in the sights and sounds of baseball. No other sport speaks to our sense of nostalgia more than Baseball. It’s in the confines of the Ball Park where a lifetime of memories are made and handing down from generation to generation. So kick back and celebrate with me.

Here it is you Guys (and Gals, of course), the newest Sooper episode just in time for the National Sooper Sunday Holiday.
Feel free to send it to a few thousand of your closest friends and stop by ESPN.com to rate it and add comments here or there. a big thanks to my new Crew mate, Joe Corrao, who did the animation. YOu can see more of Joe’s incredible stuff at 4eyedanimation.com. the vocal work was done my Mike Kaminski. You gotta hear his demo reel at MikeKaminski.com
And I can’t say enough about Rich Moyer who carried the load of 16 straight weeks of 2 minute animations by himself. Some of Richs stuf can be seen at RichMoyer.com (Just an FYI. Not all of Rich’s work is “family friendly”)
I’ll be back Friday with another toon! In the meantime , enjoy!
