Today’s View From the Bull Pen
Wasted Time
Growing up in the late 60's and early 70's, I was a huge NBA fan. From Wilt the Stilt to Jerry West to Nate Archibald to my personal favorite, Pete Maravich, I loved the game and watched it as often as I could. Somewhere along the way, sometime after Magic and Bird, I lost that loving feeling, and, unless I just have to watch it for work purposes, I avoid The NBA at all costs.
This cartoon is as clear a comment about those feelings as I can make in less than 100 words. Inspired by the Eagles song "Wasted Time" which I recently heard while watching the History of the Eagles DVD, I think it is my definitive statement about how I really feel about the NBA. It all seems like a colossal waste of time. Don't you agree? As always, your readership and your comments help to make the world go round, so please continue to add them. I will try to do a better job of responding.
There isn't a way to leave comments in the Bull Pen so please feel free to leave your comments under the latest cartoon that I post.

Quotes & Quips
“For everything there is a season, And a time for every matter under heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; A time to seek, and a time to lose; A time to keep, and a time to throw away; A time to tear, and a time to sew; A time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate, A time for war, and a time for peace.”- EcclesiastesTwitter Goodies

A Rose by any other name…

My most recent cartoon from the Chicago Tribune. The Bulls are close to finishing off their series with the Pacers. I’m thinking if Derrick Rose is healthy the Bulls are a contender to win it all.

TGIOD: The Opening Day Blogorama
This first one is from ESPN.com…

Happy Opening Day!! Since I consider these couple of days of Baseball openers a National Holiday I decided to go all out for it. Grab some coffee, or a cold beverage and a hot dog and take in the sights and sounds of baseball. No other sport speaks to our sense of nostalgia more than Baseball. It’s in the confines of the Ball Park where a lifetime of memories are made and handing down from generation to generation. So kick back and celebrate with me.

This cartoon is from this months edition of Mile High Sports Magazine available now
The classic Abbott and Costello “Who’s on First”
Centerfield by the great Baseball Fan John Fogerty
A classic Baseball cartoon by my favorite animator, Tex Avery

A Couple of scenes from the famous Baseball Bugs Bunny cartoon.

Sooper Sunday Match-Up Animation
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=6082539
Here it is you Guys (and Gals, of course), the newest Sooper episode just in time for the National Sooper Sunday Holiday.
Feel free to send it to a few thousand of your closest friends and stop by ESPN.com to rate it and add comments here or there. a big thanks to my new Crew mate, Joe Corrao, who did the animation. YOu can see more of Joe’s incredible stuff at 4eyedanimation.com. the vocal work was done my Mike Kaminski. You gotta hear his demo reel at MikeKaminski.com
And I can’t say enough about Rich Moyer who carried the load of 16 straight weeks of 2 minute animations by himself. Some of Richs stuf can be seen at RichMoyer.com (Just an FYI. Not all of Rich’s work is “family friendly”)
I’ll be back Friday with another toon! In the meantime , enjoy! -
Get Ready to RRRRumbblle

So NASCAR updated it’s scoring system. I always thought the round by round scoring system worked.
Talk about Road rage…
I doubt I’ll really watch the Pro Bowl. Maybe the NHL all star game. Naw. I think it’s time for my recorded Green Hornet episodes to play while I draw away. Then again. I really want to watch them.
So maybe it’s just Bob Wills, Nat King Cole and Rush from the itunes library.
I’m busy finishing up a freelance job and working away on our special Sooper Sunday Madness animation episode. Next week will be crazy fun. Everyone have a great weekend as we get ready for da Sooper Bowl! -
Pro Bowl madness

I’m starting to go through football withdrawal already. But I don’t think I’m desperate enough to watch the Pro Bowl. Am I?
