Today's cartoon was drawn for 9News KUSA Denver
I think it’s safe to say that Tim Tebow had the last laugh. John Elway proclaimed to reporters earlier in the week that Tebow still might not be the Broncos quarterback of the future. Well, I know that could still be the case, but Tebow isn’t making Elway’s decision making process any easier. Tebow continues to defy NFL logic and just keeps winning. And winning, after all, is really what it’s all about. Here’s a few more random thoughts:
1. Yesterdays officiating was the worst I have seen in sometime. Officials missed a blatant interference call, a facemask on Tebow and a chep shot to Tebow as he was running to get out of bounds. Usually officials blow calls on both sides of the ball. Not yesterday. It was lopsided. No truth to the rumor they all reside in San Diego, but judging from their performance I wouldn’t be surprised.
2. Willis McGahee continues to carry the offense. He’s a joy to watch because he accelerates right up the field, hitting the holes the offensive line opens. IN other words, he’s not Knowshon Romero. Thank goodness.
3. Speaking of Offensive Line, have they been amazing or what? Tebow often had time to order take out and eat it too.
4. Two names. Elvis. and Von. Monsters of the Mile High.
5. OK. Time for your thoughts about all of this. But first just a note. Pre-orders for the 2012 DrewLitton.com Sports calendar can be made in the Brand New Drew Litton store. We expect the calendars in the studio sometime next week and we’ll start shipping as soon as we have them in hand. You can also grab a few of your favorite prints or originals as I get them uploaded in the next day or two.

Wow! Words just cannot describe what all of us in Broncos Nation are seeing week in and week out. Driving 95 yards in 4 minutes after lulling us all asleep, including the Jets, was just beyond description. It reminded me so much of Elway in Cleveland with 98 yards to go, I swear I was looking on the field for those dog bones they used to throw. None of what are witnessing makes any sense at all. I drew this cartoon for 9News and was supposed to get it to them by 10. I pushed the cartoon too far off deadline (I sent it at like 10:25) that it didn’t make the air. It will tomorrow. That said the drawing above was done about as fast as I can draw. It’s more sketch quality than final cartoon quality.
Anyway, considering how the Broncos season is unfolding here are a couple of thoughts for all of us to ponder…
1. Tebow knows how to manage a game. He doesn’t make the stupid mistakes that Kyle Orton so often made under pressure. Tebow remains calm, under control and cool when it matters most. That’s something you can’t teach or coach. You either have that temperment or you don’t. I think some of it has to do with Tebow’s faith that teaches you not to worry. He clearly doesn’t.
2. Tebow has Leadership and the desire to compete that you can’t teach. Clearly it makes a difference. His presence in the huddle with 95 yards to go for a touchdown was a perfect example. He told everyone to forget what the offense had done for 3 quarters plus. If the offense takes it 95 yards to win, noe of it matters. That’s a leader.
3. The Broncos have to move the pocket for this offense to work. Tebow throws best in the shotgun and on the run…Not as good as John Elway, but he creates out of chaos like Elway did
4. The Broncos Defense is what is making this whole thing possible. Vonn Miller, Elvis Dumervil and a veteran secondary are playing smart alert defense. The kind of defense that can carry you to the playoffs, as impossible as that sounds.

Here’s the cover I did for this months Mile High Sports Magazine special Outdoor Adventure issue. I also did a bunch of fun inside illustrations including my usual monthly cartoon that I’ll be sharing with you next week. If you see the issue around Denver, be sure to pick up a copy! The stuff always looks awesome in print!

Hot off the presses this cartoon is from the February issue of Mile High Sports Magazine available now throughout the metro area.
A few notes:
* After cranking out a full page of Super Bowl cartoons for ESPN.com, as well as a “Lombardi Goes Home” cartoon for United Features, I’m taking Wednesday as a day to catch my breath. I actually have several freelance jobs I have to do on Tuesday, so I’ll be working on those as well. So it’s sorta a no rest for the weary day.
* Thanks to everyone who helped push yesterday’s blog post to new highs on page views. When you share content like so many of you did it helps so much.
* Also Thanks for your feedback on the image sizes. I’ll keep the theme as is.
* But I’ll keep adding new content, including stuff in the sidebars. Today you’ll find a sports headline feed that fits, and , just in time for March Madness, a free hoops game!
Have fun. See ya Thursday morning with a new toon!

ELWAY. For Broncos fans there may be no more thrilling name than ELWAY. It rings out and is synonymous with winning. And so, today, as he stood at a podium at Dove Valley to take over as the Vice President in charge of Football operations, there was a feeling of incredible optimism felt throughout Broncos nation. And, you know, it felt good. Really good. because it’s been awhile since Broncos fans had that feeling. Oh, sure, there was the drafting of Tebow that brought a glimmer of hope, but nothing like the name ELWAY. I don’t know how it will turn out. I think well. Very well. But in the meantime, it’s a great day for Broncomaniacs. So relish it!
