This was a rough draft that I did for the Tribune on Friday that didn’t make the final cut. I liked it so I decided to post it as my daily. Did I say daily? Yep. I’m revving it back up to 5 a week again starting today. You’ll see some new stuff on 9News as well. It’s been a good break for me and I appreciate your patience as I took a little time to tend to some much needed business to move forward in my life after the Rocky. I have some things to share from my break. But before I do, I’m asking all of you to help me. As I rev back up I’ll be making some additions to the blog. I need your help to spread the word about the blog, the cartoons and that I’m back to five a week. I’m hoping we can add some new readers in the next few weeks, but I can’t do it without your help.
I’ spent some of the time off rebuilding my portfolio site at http://www.littoonzstudios.com
I’m pleased with the results and if you have anyone you know who needs comic art work, animation or illustration please feel free to pass the link along.
I’m also playing with changes here. I’m exploring the idea of adding a thing called mingle, which basically allows you to chat with myself and fellow drew crew members live.
I’m planning to add a real store when I can get some products developed.
Lastly, I’m developing a Web comic that will be very different from the sports stuff I have done for 27 years. I’ll keep doing this and do a web comic two to three days a week. The site is being built (it will be housed at a different site) and the process is underway. I’m losing sleep over this one because I’m so excited about it. It will give me a creative outlet I feel I have needed for quite some time. For those of you who don’t know, sports cartoons was not what I wanted to do when I grew up, drawing comic strips was. With the changes in the newspaper industry I’m not sure print is the direction to go these days. With the advent of the iPad and the Kindle I think comic strips will have a renaissance on a new platform. It’s vital for me to find new ways to do what I do.
More than ever I treasure my readers. Thanks to all of you for continuing to stop by daily to read and offer comments. You’re the best!
Sincerely,
Drew

This time of year it’s so easy to get caught up in the football season and forget what really matters. lost often times are the students who spend endless hours studying, researching, and reading. Why we don’t celebrate those people more is beyond me. It’s part of the culture to raise up athletes to a ridiculous stature and and ignore the amazing contributions that intellectual in nature. It’s too bad. We miss esteeming a lot of kids that way.
A Drew Litton Calendar is Coming
We’ve begun production on the first ever Drew Litton wall calendars. My wife, Marcia, is helping input the events and I’m working on choosing the images. We’re doing a super cool calendar with dates for all of the major sports events of 2010 plus cartoons for every month. We weren’t able to get the daily desk calendars done. I just don’t have the financial resources right now to make that happen. This calendar is really an experiment. If it goes well then we will start to do a lot more merchandise in 2010 including a new book. So you can help me out by telling all your friends about the Drew Litton calendar (not to mention this blog). The more people who know about it the better. I’m also exploring doing a few Christmas Craft shows but I’m not sure about that yet. If any one has any ideas about that, I’m all ears. If there is any other merchandise you would like to see made available for this Holiday season feel free to let me know. You might remember a poll we ran back in September. It was a big help.
I’ve started my Cartooning 101 articles now on the Creator’s Incubator. For years I have had students come to me asking how to become a cartoonist. So I’ve decided to finally put some thoughts down about my calling in life. It will take me awhile to complete as I will most likely do a chapter at a time. But the introduction should give you a good idea on what it’s all about. I hope you’ll join me along the way and pass the word to anybody who wants to become a cartoonist. I think they’ll find some good insight. BTW this project is aimed at an audience a little older than 6th grade. The little guys will need to wait for a simpler version.
