Clint Was Class
If you’re looking for the real reason Clint Hurdle lost his job, this cartoon, an old one from my days at the Rocky, pretty much spells it out. Sure , we can blame the Monfort’s (as I’ve been known to do more than a few times) but looking at the wrecking ball of this current economy, I think I’ll not point the finger today. Sure, The Monforts can’t compete with the likes of the Yankees or Red Sox but, really, who can? Until baseball puts in a salary cap to even the playing field, great guys like Clint Hurdle get pushed out the door. Here’s my wish. That Hurdle inks a deal with one of the teams with deep pockets. And then wins a World Series or two. Good luck Skipper. There was none finer.

CHDS…baseball’s hottest stat
It’s time for baseball to update the record books. Not just the asterisks involved but the newest and hottest stat in all of baseball…CHDS percentage. My guess is the numbers would be quit high. Maybe I ought to talk to my friends at the Society of Baseball Research (SABR ) to see if they could get the stat added. It’s long overdue don’t you think?

Question of the day!
Does it bother you that the game of Baseball has been so tainted by steroids or are you willing to forgive and forget and just get on with the show?

Barry Bonds has been a frequent topic for me through the years. This cartoon inspired by a famous photo featuring Babe Ruth is one of my favorite images. I think it about summed up the Bonds fiasco with no words, just letting the picture do all the talking. Maybe even a thousand words worth.
