Tag Archives: NFL free agency

It actually looks more like an IKEA grand opening than anything else, but suffice to say the NFL free agent spending spree has begun. There will be a lot of trades and general mayhem until rosters shake out across the NFL. They’ll need velcro for the uniforms, the players will need name tags and we will all need printed rosters just to tell who is who. Ahhh. Football is indeed back.

Making a few tweaks to the site. You’ll now have the weekly cartoon from the Chicago Tribune in the sidebar, My Animations from ESPN.com, and I’ll add the Caption Contest in the side bar so it remains visible all week long. I’m looking into putting a weeks worth of my cartoons in a slider at the top of the page and smaller thumbnails below. It’s a work in progress. As am I. Feel free to offer feed back. I do this blog for you!

Brandon Marshall is finding out the harsh reality of having a bad reputation and a me first attitude on the open market. couple that with the compensation the Broncos are demanding and therein lies the stalemate he finds himself in. That said, I’m sure Al Davis would be glad to have him. I for one advocated for getting rid of him long before this. Rumor has it that was one of the reasons for Shanahan’s dismissal at Dove Valley. He wanted nothing to do with the Brandon Marshall act any longer. I wonder why it took Bowlen this long to come around.

No “Free” Agents.
Clearly the economy is making a difference in the NFL free agency markets. As owners prepare themselves for the 2011 deadline to complete the new CBA agreement with the NFLPA or choose a lockout instead, no one will admit it, but the spending is staying tight so far. I’m still of the school of thought that the Broncos are dealing with the same financial mess we all are. Maybe even more. Anyway I thought this reference to Goldman Sachs seemed appropriate.

The Makeover is Over
Yeah! I think the final results were worth it. I just hope I didn’t lose too many readers in the process. I’ll always be trying to find ways to make it as fun a site to visit and come back to as possible. Besides the new header and a swatch of gray behind the cartoons ( I think they stand out better) the thing that most excites me are the new Blogroll links. I’ve kept it almost all sports with some fun blogs to visit both regionally and nationally. If you know of a great sports blog that’s not on the list be sure to pass it along. I also made the categories more fun and easy to get to. Feel free to tip the Blog Monster if you like the changes. He’d really like that. (Needs Hot Dogs)

George Karl Card
Maybe I was too late with putting it up but I was hoping to get a few more comments from you to Coach Karl before I send the link to the Nuggets. If you’ve added your get well wishes, Thanks. If you haven’t please, please do.
