Today’s View From the Bull Pen
We have them all wrong. From constant news coverage of Jodi Arias and OJ Simpson to athletes getting mega bucks for playing a game, our sense of what is important is completely and totally screwed up. You'd think that we might have learned something from the recent events in Boston. That heroes emerge from even the most difficult of circumstances, but, no, we return to the inane and inconsequential. Amanda Knox. Film at 11.
I drew this cartoon after reading the recent story about Andrew Wiggins, supposedly the "next" LeBron James, signing a letter of intent with Kansas. While Wiggins did his best to keep his signing from becoming too much of a circus, it still carried huge weight in the 24/7 news cycle. It made me think of the number of brilliant kids who will walk across graduation stages all over our country in the next few weeks, whose names are only heard as they stride forward to get their diplomas. No newspaper columns are written or press conferences held for valedictorians or honor students, but, hey, dribble a basketball and we hear all about it. Priorities. Yeah. I'd say we have them pretty screwed up.
As always, your readership and your comments help to make the world go round, so please continue to add them. I will try to do a better job of responding.
There isn't a way to leave comments in the Bull Pen so please feel free to leave your comments under the latest cartoon that I post.

I don’t know about you, but all of these conference realignment changes has me completely and hopelessly lost. And you know how hard it is for guys to ask for…
Calendars are still available at LuLu.com. However, the window to get them in time for Christmas is closing fast at LuLu. So, I’ve shipped 40 some odd calendars directly to me to accommodate those last minute shoppers who want to order it from here and shorten the time it takes to get their calendars. So in the next day or so, I’ll be setting up a shop on the site here where you can place your orders and then I’ll put them in the mail each day until the 22 or 23rd. Just bear with me as I ramp this up. This is new territory for me.
Hope you enjoy the Notre Dame cartoon from last Saturdays Chicago Tribune. It was kind of applicable to the Tiger mess as well
Latest Chicago Tribune Cartoon For all of the Notre Dame fans out there. Sorry, Charlie. He's gone. And don't be too surprised to see Mike Shanahan's name pop up on the Irish look list. Calendars! Thanks to everyone who ordered a calendar. I'll be posting reminders but I've added a button in the sidebar that can take you right to the order page. Site Changes You'll notice some changes to the site. I've taken the ads off so that i cn fill the sidebars with more content links. I'll also be adding a storefront on the site to accommodate some new merchandise in 2010, including t-shirts, books, prints and originals. I'll also be adding a commission button because in 2010 I'll be available to draw customized cartoons for you and your special occasion. Sounds like fun!" title="Chicago Tribune toon: Charlie Weis" />
