Steve From Summit Graphic Studios Scores Upset!
We had great response this week with 127 entries and I have to tell you it was tough. We really could have had 10 winners at least. This weeks runner ups are:
Hazardous_T said:
“Don’t look now but I think Vince McMahon is dressed up as a ref…”
and
Phil said:
“Yes Mello, Kobe IS your father.”
Three quick notes:
First I’m running behind on my mailings, so forgive me. I’ll be getting them out tomorrow.
Next Our winners need to e-mail their address, t-shirt size and their preference for sketches to me at sportoonz@gmail.com.
and Last Several of you caught my mistake on the Birdman’s number. Player numbers and I have had a rough history. I can’t tell you how many times I put Kobe in a number 8 jersey (his old number) only to have one of our copy editors catch it. (He was a Lakers fan). My bad. I fixed it in this copy. In golf they call that a Mulligan. have a great weekend. Wow Nuggets!!

Ick it’s Vick
I’ve been trying to come up with a proper rehabilitation program for Michael Vick but I have to tell you I can’t find one that is suitable. Suffice to say, if and when he ever returns to the NFL it will be a very sad day.
Predictions for tonight?
What do the Nuggets need to do to beat the Lakers? Should they have just made the WWE event the halftime program? Let me know.
Cartoon Caption Contest last call
This weeks caption contest comes to a close today at 6 p.m. Be sure to add those last minute captions.

Nuggets report stolen game.
The Nuggets had the Lakers right where they wanted them. Against the ropes, down for the count and they let ‘em up just long enough to give ‘em life. This puts the Nuggets in a pressure cooker on Thursday night. They know they have to get one back. It won’t be easy, but the Nuggets did show that the Lakers are in for a tussle. Thank goodness for the WWE afterall.
Don’t forget the Caption contest
Great entries so far. I hope you guys have as much fun writing them as I do reading them. I can tell this week it’s going to be tough to pick a winner.
So, what do you all think of game one? Observations? Coaching advice? Kidnap Kobe? Let me know!

Don’t know if your living room or den looks like this, but , hey, it’s a place to start. Tomorrow night most of Denver will be glued to their sets. Lakers fans, not so much. They have a way of kind of looking down on the Nuggets. Who can blame them. The Nuggets have been at the bottom of the barrel for so long most people forgot they were still in it.
Lets here some predictions Nuggets fans?

Laker’s it is. Bring ‘em on. Give ‘em a taste of the Birdman and Billups (sounds like a sitcom doesn’t it?). Let Melo make mincemeat of ‘em I say. Just get it going already.
No matter how much you are enjoying this Nuggets run I think everyone would agree with me that it takes too long to get to this point. An 8 month season followed by 4 months of playoffs. Or so it seems.
It should be a fun one. And, really I can’t complain. It gives me something other then the Rockies to draw about.
Friends
I spent some time over the weekend with some dear friends I have not seen in awhile. My neighbors before we moved were the greatest people in the world. Larry and Linda Kapke’s daughter, Laura, graduates next weekend and they had a party for her. Rick and Susie O’ Keefe, the folks who lived right next door me at the time, hosted the party. Tim and Catherine Kubik were there as well. These people are some of the dearest most loving people on the planet. It was great to see them again. If you haven’t seen or heard from an old friend, call them. Or better yet, go see them and give them a hug. It will do you both some good.
