Softball
Better left for the pros is my motto. These kinds of cartoons are probably my favorite kind to draw. I love how relationships revolve around sports and it’s always good material for the slower days of summer, before football starts and hockey and basketball wind down.

Congrats, Gabe. You’re the winner for this week’s contest! Our runner-ups were:
Jason said: Thank goodness you are not a Cubs “fan.” and
stanbob said: No matter how long you stay in there you will never be as “done” as the Rockies.

I’m just getting back from a business trip to the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas so I’m a little behind on getting prizes out from last week. I’ll get them out ASAP.

The Madness of it all
We are in the midst of a technological Tsunami. Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, iPhones, it’s really never ending. Which, of course, makes fun material for a cartoonist. I’ll be finishing up my time here in Las Vegas at the international licensing expo. I’ve met some really incredible people here and I’ve been able to make, what I hope will be, some lasting contacts and friendships.
Q. Are you ready to write off the Rockies season? Let me know what you think.

It all starts early
We live in the age of the trophy child. They are kids who are brought up to believe that everything they do is good and worthy of praise and special treatment. Kids follow by example. This cartoon was just a fun way to point out the messiness that comes with coddling.

Geez, talk about your Road Rage. NASCAR continues their heated rivalries that have been known to break out into something resembling a bench clearing brawl. They really need to calm these guys down. Whether it’s Kyle Busch vs. Dale Earnhardt Jr. or somebody else going all Rocky Balboa, NASCAR is starting to look a bit like the WWE. Either take them all off the Red Bull or go let some steam off on the L.A. freeway before they get on a track.

Speaking of Roads
I’m on the road this week in Las Vegas. I’m attending the International Licensing Expo trying to jump start my career. Norm Clarke has an article about me in Mondays Las Vegas Review-Journal. You can see it HERE. Life after the Rocky has been different, for sure. I’m drawing more (as many as 10 sports cartoons a week) and only currently getting paid for two by my syndicate. My 9News work is free. We are hoping to find sponsorship for my work at KUSA, but in the meantime I find myself between the Rocky and a hard place (bad pun, I know). So, I’m here to restart my career and seek new opportunities. I’ll update you as I can and you’ll get new cartoons each day.

In the meantime
I want all of you to think of anything else you’d like to see on the blog. It’s continuing to evolve and I want to make sure I take it in a direction that appeals to you all.
‘Til tomorrow, remember, let’s have some fun out there!
Drew

Today’s View From the Bull Pen

The World is in Chaos, The Economy is in the Dumpster...And Peyton Manning throws a Pass. Nice to know we have it all in perspective.

There isn't a way to leave comments in the Bull Pen (that I've found yet) so please feel free to leave your comments under the latest cartoon that I post.
