A Time Out from Sports

Some of you know that along with ESPN.com and the Chicago Tribune I also draw cartoons for the Guadalupe County Communicator in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Their economy, like everyone’s across America, has experienced downturn. This week the local KFC/Long John Silvers restaurants closed their doors, which in a small community like Santa Rosa is a very big story. So this is the cartoon I did for today’s issue. A big tip of the ball cap to Mr. M.E. Sprengelmeyer, publisher of the Communicator.

  1. Good Morning from Omaha,

the kfc and ljs are closing or have closed?

where are the good people in santa rosa going to go to get that internal lube and cholesteral fix.

KFC makes some really good stuff but if the $$$$ aren’t there it doesn’t matter. Just short of giving it away won’t pay the bills.

better move along. Drew, you have a good day and I’ll catch up with you tomorrow.

Strive for excellence, nothing but your best.

    Gene

  2. New Mexico is so beautiful, I hate to hear that the people who live there would be struggling. Not that KFC being gone is bad for their health. But the employment opportunities disappearing is.
